• Background: MBChB from the University of Zambia School of Medicine in 2000.  Certificate in Telemedicine from USTTI in the USA in 2002.  Certificate in HIV management from the University of Witswatersrand-South Africa in 2005.  District Health Management: Priority setting and Resource allocation from Switzerland Tropical Institute-Basel Switzerland in 2007. 
  • Placement undertaken during the MSc: Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and Wellcome Trust collaboration site in the coastal town of Kilifi.  Abel examined the Research Ethics Review processes for research protocols taht have been reviewed in both Kenya and the United Kingdom.  This is an initial process that seeks to streamline the research protocol review processes that have been blamed for delaying research in many quotas.
  • After the MSc: Abel will get back to his work in Zambia as District Director of Health.  Abel hopes to help streamline biomedical research processes in Zambia by setting up a National Research Ethics Committee.  Abel is also looking forward to undertaking a PhD in line with his work on the MSc.
